| Safe drinking water from a community well. |
|
| Every summer it seems like it’s hotter & hotter and drier & drier. Here in this great nation we are rarely subjected to the heat without an accompanying tall glass of ice cold water or a relaxing evening of watering the lawn. What is unfortunate, however, is that not everyone in the world has such simple provision so easily accessible. That’s why here at Beckwith’s Car Care we would like to introduce you to: Project Water Well! Throughout the duration of the summer we invite you to come by the shop for a complimentary bottle of water to keep you cool in the heat of day! Also, while you’re in, you’ll have the opportunity to give the gift of water to someone else in the world that needs it most. The money that is collected will go towards establishing water wells in third world countries. Water is the most important ingredient to life. We encourage everyone to be a proponent of life, and to join us in our efforts to help quench a thirsty world.

Interesting Facts:
“Nearly 90 percent of all diseases in the world are caused by unsafe drinking water, inadequate sanitation, and poor hygiene. Every year, there are 4 billion cases of diarrhea as a direct result of drinking contaminated water; this results in more than 2.2 million deaths each year—the equivalent of 20 jumbo jets crashing every day.” - Living Water International
“Clean water and sanitation are among the most powerful preventative medicines for reducing child mortality. They are to diarrhea what immunization is to killer diseases such as measles or polio: a mechanism for reducing risk and averting death.” - United Nations Development Program, 2006
The average North American uses 400 liters a day. European uses 200 liters. (UNDP)
40 billion working hours are spent carrying water each year in Africa. (Cosgrove and Rijsberman 1998)

| About Living Water International(from their website): It all began in 1990, when a group from Houston, Texas traveled to Kenya and saw the desperate need for clean drinking water. They returned to Houston and founded a 501(c)3 non-profit. The fledgling organization equipped and trained a team of Kenyan drillers, and LWI Kenya began operations the next year under the direction of a national board. That pattern continues today; we train, consult, and equip local people to implement solutions in their own countries. Remembering the life-changing nature of that first trip in 1990, we also lead hundreds of volunteers on mission trips each year, working with local communities, under the leadership of nationals, to implement water projects. It's hard to know which lives are changed more—those "serving" or those "being served." Our training programs in shallow well drilling, pump repair, and hygiene education have equipped thousands of volunteers and professionals in the basics of integrated water solutions since 1997.
